New York Fashion Week

Our Salon Director, Philipp is fresh from New York Fashion Week where he worked backstage as the Hair Lead for designer Malan Breton’s ever beautiful Fall Winter 2023 Show, Fantôme.

Here’s Philipp’s lowdown on the inspiration behind the show and what went down in New York:

“I’ve worked with Malan for a few years and have always loved his connection with people and fashion. His shows normally have a lot of models, it was 48 this season so we needed a big team with big energy, and we had it! Schwarzkopf Professional turned up in force with a crazy talented crew of their US Ambassadors to help create the hair looks for the collection of day, evening and red-carpet wear. The inspiration for the hair was 1920s vamp bobs with little details like fringes or soft waves that curve around the face.”

Most of the models had super long hair so we created a faux-bob with a super low ponytail, pulling the hair down over the ears then sweeping it back towards the neck.

From the front it looked like short hair whilst from the back the hair appeared smooth and flat to the head. Great for the collars and ruffles on Malan’s clothes.

Each look also had a little wave on one side, curving around the eyebrow and cheekbones.

“Malan wanted to see high shine and polish, this is where our backstage product Session Label by Schwarzkopf Professional really brought the A game:

To prep each model’s hair before blow drying we used Session Label, The Mousse. You can spray it softly into the hair and then layer it up. So you can get fantastic volume into the hair whilst keeping all the shine. Some mousses make hair appear dull, but not this one!

To secure the waves and the shape of the faux-bob we used Session Label’s Flexible Hairspray.  This product has got a great hold but allows the hair to still be moveable and soft to touch.

After a Malan Breton show I always feel inspired and full of his positive energy. This season was a total dream, from the team, to our sponsors Schwarzkopf Professional and to most amazing city that is New York, thank you!”

So, whilst here in London we’re edging our way ever hopefully towards Spring, the Fashion world is looking straight ahead to Autumn Winter and it’s London’s turn next.

Keep refreshing your feed next weekend as Philipp will be heading up the hair team on behalf of Schwarzkopf Professional for another exciting designer showing at London Fashion Week. More on who that is and where in London it’s happening will be announced on our Instagram stories later in the week.

Philipp touched back down in London on Monday morning and is straight back into the salon looking after his clients. For appointments and availability with him, book now.
